Create a noodle board stove top cover using Varathane Premium Fast Dry Wood Stain, Rust-Oleum Chalked Ultra Matte Paint and Rust-Oleum Universal Spray Paint.

1. Measure your stove top and cut the pieces of wood to size. Attach your pieces of wood together using a wood glue to form your noodle board. After gluing, place clamps onto the wood to hold it in place while the wood glue dries. Once the glue has set, screw the two top boards to your wooden panel board.
2. Lightly sand with #120 and #220 grit sandpaper and remove any sanding dust.
3. Gently stir your can of Varathane Premium Fast Dry Wood Stain (we used Ebony). Generously apply the wood stain with a lint-free cloth and let it sit for 2-3 minutes. For a richer penetration, leave on for an additional 1-2 minutes.
4. Wipe off excess stain in the direction of the wood grain with a clean, lint-free cloth. Allow the wood stain to dry for a minimum of 1 hour before stenciling.
5. After the wood stain has dried, apply your stencil with painter’s tape. To ensure any unsettled pigment is mixed in, thoroughly mix your can of Rust-Oleum Chalked Ultra Matte Paint. (We used the color Linen White.)
6. Apply Chalked Ultra Matte Paint with a synthetic brush. To get the appearance shown here, dry brush with most of the paint wiped off the brush. Dry brush over the stencil until you are happy with the look. Remove the stencil once the paint is dry to the touch.
7. Allow the stencil to dry for 8 hours before top coating with Varathane Ultimate Polyurethane Water Based for additional protection, following the directions on the can.
8. To paint your handles, follow the instructions on the spray paint can. Shake the can for 60 seconds after mixing ball begins to rattle. Hold your can of Rust-Oleum Universal Spray Paint (we used Aged Copper) 8-12” from the surface and spray in a steady, back-and-forth motion, slightly overlapping each stroke. Apply two or more light coats a few minutes apart.
9. When dry, screw the handles into the side pieces of your noodle board.

Tip: Noodle board is not safe for direct food contact.
