Give your pegboard an upscale look by adding a modern paint color and a wood stained frame. Then add your desk accessories to give your space a more sophisticated look.

1. Before you paint the pegboard, apply primer to ensure better coverage. Work in a well-ventilated area, such as a garage with overhead door raised, and cover your painting area with a drop cloth or kraft paper. Shake the Zinsser Bulls Eye 1-2-3 Turbo can vigorously for one minute after the mixing ball begins to rattle. Hold the spray can upright 18 to 24” from the surface of your pegboard and start spraying. Keep the can in motion while using even strokes, slightly overlapping each one for the best coverage.
2. Paint the pegboard with Rust-Oleum 2X Ultra Cover Spray Paint. Follow the instructions on the spray paint can. Shake the can for one minute after the mixing ball begins to rattle. Hold your can of spray paint 10 -16” from the pegboard and apply light coats of spray paint, in a steady back-and-forth motion, slightly overlapping each stroke for even coverage, waiting a few minutes between each coat to ensure even coverage. Apply a second coat within one hour or after 48 hours.
3. To stain the frame, using a lint-free cloth, generously apply Varathane Premium Fast Dry Wood Stain to the wood frame. Let the stain sit for 2 to 3 minutes, based on the richness of color you prefer.
4. Following the instructions on the can, apply Varathane Ultimate Polyurethane for added durability and protection, allowing 2 hours between coats. Allow the polyurethane to dry for 24 hours.
5. Apply wood glue to the painted pegboard, attach the wood stained frame and wait 30 minutes before hammering in nails 2 inches from each corner for additional reinforcement.
6. Hang the pegboard on your wall and add accessories.
